Depend on Honeywell to deliver a quality hydrofluoric acid (HF) product. As the world’s largest producer and consumer of HF and the leader in safe and reliable HF transportation, we’re committed to delivering a consistent product to support your operations. We take our safety responsibility very seriously – no other supplier can match the experience and support we provide throughout every phase of production and delivery, for every HF grade we offer. All Honeywell HF is produced at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Geismar, LA.

Honeywell manufactures HF in three grades:

Anhydrous HF (AHF)

AHF is used to produce environmentally preferred fluorocarbon products, fluoropolymers, and chemical derivatives. It is a clear, colorless, corrosive fuming liquid with a sharp, pungent odor. AHF is 100% soluble in water and is not flammable. It forms a dense white vapor clouds if released

AHF is highly hazardous and needs to be handled and used with rigorous safety precautions. It can cause severe burns to all parts of the body in liquid and vapor forms. Specialized medical treatment is required for all exposures to HF acid.

Aqueous HF — 70% Solution

Our 70% HF solution is an aqueous grade that is a clear, colorless, corrosive fuming liquid with a sharp, stinging odor. It is 100% soluble in water and is not flammable.

70% HF is highly hazardous and needs to be handled and used with rigorous safety precautions. It can cause severe burns to all parts of the body in liquid and vapor forms. Specialized medical treatment is required for any exposure to 70% HF.

Aqueous HF — 49% Solution

Our 49% HF is a clear, colorless, corrosive fuming liquid with a sharp, stinging odor. It is non-fuming, 100% soluble in water and is not flammable.

The 49% solution is highly hazardous and needs to be handled and used with rigorous safety precautions. Liquid exposure can cause severe burns to all parts of the body. Specialized medical treatment is required for any exposure to 49% HF.

From pharmaceuticals to non-stick coatings, Honeywell HF is a precursor to almost all fluorine compounds, including fluorine itself.

Anhydrous HF (AHF)

Most AHF is used to produce fluorinated carbon compounds. These materials are used in refrigerants, blowing agents and solvents, as well as raw materials for the plastics and petrochemical industries.

Aqueous HF – 70% and 49% Solution

Our 70% and 49% aqueous HF grades are used in applications including stainless steel and titanium pickling, glass etching/frosting, quartz purification, chemical milling, and rare metal processing. They are also used as a feedstock in the production of chemical derivatives. Some customers prefer the 49% grade due to its non-fuming properties.
